Xcel Sciences Student of the Year award
Pursuing his dream of becoming a doctor and a scientist, Chung has obtained a first class degree in Medical Sciences and was awarded the Endocrinology prize at Queen Mary University, as well as winning the national undergraduate award from the Society for Endocrinology. A published scientific author, Chung is now in his final year of medical school. Chung has also won the Buxton Prize, as well as obtaining a Jean Shanks Foundation scholarship to study molecular medicine and endocrinology.
Outside of his studies, Chung is a member of the university chess team, has been vice-president of the Malaysian Society, set up a Medical Student biology website and does voluntary charity work.
Chung was absolutely delighted to receive his award: “I feel fantastic to be the Xcel Science Student of the Year! It is priceless to see how proud my parents are. Both of them are the most important person in my life and I would like to dedicate this award to them. Also, a big thank you to my three amazing supervisors: Prof Korbonits, Prof Grossman and Dr Kola.”
“It means a lot to have your effort recognised and more importantly, this award will always remind me to work hard continuously and never give up on my dreams,” he added.
“Science and Medicine are two interesting fields with well-established facts and unsolved puzzles. There are plenty of opportunities on the table for everyone. With strong interest and dedication, you will do well and succeed,” he added.
Mr Lim has set himself almost impossibly ambitious goals, and is now achieving them. He stood out in a group of impressive nominees.”
