Children’s Workforce Development Council

CWDC is an organisation that works with the people who work with children, young people and their families or carers.

Their work is about making:

  • Happier workers that put children at the centre of everything they do
  • Skilled workers, with the information, training and qualifications they need to do the best job they can
  • Supported workers, with the time and resources they need to do the best for the children and young people they work with.

Who CWDC Work With:
CWDC work with and support more than half a million
people whose job is to work with children and young
people, including:

  • People who work in nurseries and children’s centres
  • Childminders and nannies
  • Foster carers
  • Social workers who work with children and families
  • People who work in children’s homes and family centres
  • Learning Mentors
  • Connexions Personal Advisers
  • People who support children and young people in family
    courts.

What CWDC Do

CWDC have teams working on lots of different projects. Early Years

CWDC’s vision is for a graduate-led early years workforce delivering a high quality Early Years Foundation Stage to improve outcomes for children.

High quality early years provision can have a significant impact on children’s development, performance at school and their future life chances. If all children are to benefit from a high quality Early Years Foundation Stage, the early years workforce must be professional, well qualified and dedicated. To improve outcomes for children the government is committed to raising the proportion of the early years workforce with relevant and appropriate qualifications to work with babies, toddlers and young children.

Educational Psychology

CWDC has the responsibility for administering the funding for Educational Psychology professional training. As part of this work, CWDC is committed to promoting the work of Educational Psychologists, and to effective workforce planning.

Integrated Qualifications Framework

The Integrated Qualifications Framework (IQF) will be a set of approved qualifications that allows progression, continuing professional development and mobility across the children and young people’s workforce.

It will be a comprehensive set of qualifications that are agreed to be appropriate for people who work with children and young people, up to and including degrees and postgraduate qualifications. It will support shared values and learning approaches across the whole of the children and young people’s workforce.

Integrated Working

Integrated working is where everyone supporting children and young people work together effectively to put the child at the centre, meet their needs and improve their lives.

CWDC’s Aim Is To:

  • Improve information sharing among practitioners
  • Develop a common approach to assessment, and
  • Support the new ways of working, especially in relation to multi-agency working.

Equality And Diversity

Nobody should be denied opportunities because of their gender, race, disability, sexual orientation, religion/belief, or age. This principle underpins the work of CWDC.

CWDC’s three key values are:-

  • Inclusive: Equality & Diversity
  • Partnership: Working with Children Young People, Families
    and stakeholders
  • Excellence: Promoting quality and challenging standards
CWDC will therefore ensure that its key value of equality and diversity is incorporated throughout the organisation in all areas of delivery.
