celebrating the achievements of outstanding students
Xcel Magazine has hosted its third awards ceremony, the Xcel Student of the Year Awards 2010. Sponsored by Barclay’s Capital, a gala dinner was held in central London on Wednesday 2nd February 2011.
We received nominations for the awards from every background and ethnic group, from all classes and those coping with challenging circumstances. All were nominated by their colleges and universities. In total we have ten winners who were nominated in various subject categories, including the winners of the Best Institute of Widening Participation which was Glasgow Caledonian University, Xcel Student of Courage which was Faye Didymus and the Overall Xcel Student of the Year 2010 who was Robert Nichols from the University of the West England.

The gala dinner and awards ceremony was held in The Porter Tun event space at The Brewery, London, and was presented by Konnie Huq. With its exposed brick walls and stunning reception area, The Porter Tun was the perfect venue to celebrate the wonderful academic achievement of these students. Approximately 160 guests attended the awards, including our sponsors Barclay’s Capital, Royal Air Force, London College of Beauty Therapy, The National Student, SR Media and Carrillion.
It was a wonderful evening and we were delighted to see such worthy winners collect their awards.
